Built in 1898 as a gift from Emperor Wilhelm II, it is much younger than the Obelisk of Theodosius.

The German Fountain, or Alman Çeşmesi, is a Neo-Byzantine gazebo-fountain built in 1898, a gift from German Emperor Wilhelm II to Sultan Abdülhamid II. It is located in Sultanahmet Square. The fountain has an octagonal structure, with marble and bronze details, symbolizing the friendship between Germany and the Ottoman Empire. Its roof is supported by eight columns, and the interior is decorated with mosaics.
