It is called the Pantheon of Florence, as Michelangelo, Galileo, and Machiavelli, among others, rest here, which distinguishes it from other churches.

The Basilica di Santa Croce is one of the most important churches in Florence, built in the Gothic style. It is the burial place of many prominent Italians, including Michelangelo, Galileo, Machiavelli, and Rossini, which is why it is called the Pantheon of Florence. Inside, there are numerous tombs, monuments, and frescoes by Giotto, depicting scenes from the life of St. Francis. Construction of the basilica began in 1294.
