Wawel Cathedral
Kraków, Poland

Wawel Cathedral, a 14th-century Gothic temple, stands out as the only place of coronation and burial for Polish kings.
The Bazylika archikatedralna Świętych Stanisława i Wacława on Wawel Hill is Poland's most important national temple. Coronations of Polish kings took place here, and their remains also rest within its walls. The cathedral was built in the 14th century in the Gothic style, on the site of earlier Romanesque structures. Its interior contains numerous chapels, royal sarcophagi, and the mausoleum of St. Stanisław. In the Zygmuntowska Tower hangs the Zygmunt Bell, one of the symbols of Krakow and Poland.
