The Gothic temple dominating the Main Market Square is famous for its two unequal towers and the hourly St. Mary's Trumpet Call.

The Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, known as St. Mary's Church, is one of Krakow's most important monuments. It is a Gothic temple built in the 14th century, dominating the Main Market Square with two unequal towers. From the taller tower, the Hejnał Mariacki (St. Mary's Trumpet Call) is played every hour to the four cardinal directions. The church's interior houses Wit Stwosz's masterpiece – the main altar, one of the largest Gothic altars in Europe. The Basilica is an icon of the city and an important center of religious life.
