It is one of Krakow's best-preserved city gates, built at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries, marking the beginning of the Royal Route.

Brama Floriańska is one of the most important and best-preserved parts of Krakow's former medieval fortifications. It was built at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries as a defensive element of the city. The Royal Route, leading to the Main Market Square, begins at Brama Floriańska. Inside, there is a small painting exhibition. From above, one can admire a view of a fragment of the old defensive walls and the Barbakan.
