Chiesa del Gesù (Casa Professa)
Palermo, Italy
Its exceptionally rich and ornate interior with marble inlays is much more expressive than in Cappella Palatina or La Martorana.
The Church of Jesus, known as Casa Professa, is one of the most important Baroque churches in Palermo. It was built by the Jesuits in the 16th and 17th centuries. It stands out for its exceptionally rich and ornate interior, with marble inlays, frescoes, and sculptures. The side chapels are true art galleries. It is an excellent example of Sicilian Baroque, often referred to as one of the most magnificent in Europe.
