Its establishment and purpose are owed to the Jagiellonian University's Faculty of Medicine, which from the beginning linked it with Krakow's science and medicine.

Collegium Śniadeckiego is a historic building of the Jagiellonian University, located on Kopernika Street. Its history dates back to the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries when it was built for the needs of the Jagiellonian University's Faculty of Medicine. The building represents an eclectic style with neo-Renaissance elements. The name commemorates Jan Śniadecki, a prominent Polish astronomer, mathematician, and philosopher. Today, the building still serves didactic and scientific functions, being part of the university complex.
