Founded in 1672, it is one of the few preserved hidden Catholic churches, looking like an ordinary house from the outside.

De Papegaai, or The Parrot, is a historic hidden Catholic church in Amsterdam, located in a townhouse. Founded in 1672, when public practice of Catholicism was forbidden. From the outside, it looks like an ordinary house, but inside it hides a richly decorated chapel. It is one of the few preserved examples of secret churches in the Netherlands. A place of worship that testifies to the history of religious tolerance.
