Designed in 1641 by Giovan Francesco Susini, it is distinguished by its name derived from an artichoke-shaped vase.

Fontana del Carciofo, or 'Artichoke Fountain', is a monumental fountain located in the Boboli Gardens at Palazzo Pitti. It was designed by Giovan Francesco Susini in 1641. The fountain consists of many sculpted elements, including statues of satyrs and nymphs, and a large vase resembling an artichoke, from which it gets its name. It is an important element of the Baroque garden composition.
