Fontana Pretoria
Palermo, Italy

It is the only fountain in Palermo that was originally created in Florence, only to be moved to the city in 1574.
Fontana Pretoria is a monumental fountain built in the 16th century in Florence, then moved to Palermo in 1574. It consists of numerous marble statues depicting Olympian deities, nymphs, and mythological creatures. The fountain has three levels and is the central point of Piazza Pretoria. Due to the nudity of the statues, it was sometimes called the “fountain of shame.” It is an important example of Mannerism.
