Jezioro Vouliagmeni
Athens, Greece

A natural brackish thermal lake fed by underground springs, located 25 kilometers south of Athens at the foot of Mount Hymettus. The reservoir was formed about two thousand years ago as a result of the collapse of a karst cave ceiling. The water in the lake maintains a temperature of 22 to 29 degrees Celsius throughout the year. It exhibits balneological properties due to minerals, including potassium and lithium. Small Garra rufa fish swim in the depths, cleaning the skin of bathers. The area is surrounded by steep limestone cliffs.
