The Sansevero Chapel in Naples is a small family temple that houses one of the most famous sculptural works in the world. The main attraction is the sculpture “Veiled Christ” by Giuseppe Sanmartino from 1753, made of marble, which amazes with its illusion of transparency. In addition, the chapel contains 10 other allegorical sculptures and two unusual “anatomical machines”. The building is an example of Baroque art and the alchemical interests of Prince Raimondo di Sangro. A visit to the chapel allows one to delve into the history and symbolism associated with the Sansevero family.
