The bronze equestrian statue from 1711 stands in the middle of the market square in front of the town hall, so it is a meeting point you pass on every walk through the Old Town.

This Baroque equestrian monument of Elector Jan Wilhelm Wittelsbach was cast in bronze in 1711 by court sculptor Gabriel de Grupello. It is considered a masterpiece of Baroque sculpture in the Rhineland and a central symbol of Düsseldorf's market square.
