Tallinn in 1 day: what to see day by day

Day 1 · 6 h visiting · approx. 3.6 km walking between stops

1. Toompea Castle — 1 h visit. It is the only fortress in Tallinn that has continuously served as the seat of Estonia's state authorities since the 13th century.
2. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral — 45 min visit (approx. 110 m from previous stop). It is distinguished by its five onion domes and Neo-Byzantine style, making it the largest Orthodox church in Estonia.
3. St. Mary's Cathedral — 45 min visit (approx. 150 m from previous stop). It combines Romanesque, Gothic, and Baroque styles, being the oldest church in Tallinn, founded in the 13th century.
4. St. Nicholas Church — 1 h 15 min visit (approx. 240 m from previous stop). Unlike other temples, it functions as a museum of sacred art, presenting medieval works, including Bernt Notke's famous painting "Danse Macabre". Hours: Mon–Sun 10:00–18:00.
5. St. Olaf's Church — 45 min visit (approx. 670 m from previous stop). Its spire, currently measuring 123.7 meters, was the tallest in the world in the Middle Ages, much higher than the towers of Toomkirik.
6. Kadriorg Palace — 1 h 30 min visit (approx. 2.5 km from previous stop). This Baroque residence from the early 18th century was designed by the Italian architect Niccolò Michetti, which is a rarity in Tallinn.
