Castel dell'Ovo is the oldest castle in Naples, dating back to the 12th century. The structure was built on the islet of Megaride, offering views of the Bay of Naples. Originally, it was a Roman villa, then a Basilian monastery. In the 13th century, Frederick II Hohenstaufen transformed it into a fortress. The castle served defensive and residential functions for the rulers of Naples. Currently, it is a popular place for walks and cultural events, accessible to visitors. A visit to this place takes approximately 60 minutes.
