St Stephen's Green
Dublin, Ireland

A nine-hectare Victorian city park, closing the southern end of the Grafton Street shopping thoroughfare. The area was reorganized and made accessible to residents in 1880 thanks to funds from Lord Ardilaun, a descendant of the Guinness family. In the center of the park, a pond with islands for waterfowl and a stone bridge gleams, and the avenues are planted with century-old lime trees. The entrance from the northwest side opens with the Fusiliers' Arch, a triumphal arch commemorating soldiers who died in the Boer Wars.
