Merrion Square
Dublin, Ireland

One of the best-preserved Georgian squares in Europe, laid out in 1762 and surrounded by three-story red-brick townhouses with colorful doors. In the northwest corner of the garden stands a sculpture of playwright Oscar Wilde, who grew up at number 1 on this square. The monument by Danny Osborne was made from multicolored minerals: jadeite, thuringite, and granite. Every Sunday, local artists display their paintings for sale along the park's iron fence.
