Trinity College Dublin and Book of Kells
Dublin, Ireland

The oldest university in Ireland, founded in 1592 by Queen Elizabeth I in the city center. The main point of interest is the Old Library with the 65-meter-long Long Room, housing 200,000 rare books under a wooden barrel-vaulted ceiling. The manuscript of the Book of Kells, an illuminated manuscript of the four Gospels created by Celtic monks around 800 AD, is displayed in the treasury.
