Arthur's Seat
Edinburgh, United Kingdom

The peak of an extinct volcanic system rises to a height of 251 meters within Holyrood Park. The formation originated approximately 350 million years ago during the Carboniferous period and was smoothed by glaciers in the Pleistocene epoch. Along the western slope stretch the basalt cliffs of Salisbury Crags with the Radical Road, laid out in 1820 by unemployed weavers. From the summit, the entire panorama of the city, the Forth bridges, and the Pentland Hills can be seen. The hike to the summit takes about an hour.
