St Giles' Cathedral
Edinburgh, United Kingdom

Edinburgh's main church was built in the Gothic style in the 14th century on the site of an earlier Norman building. From 1559 to 1572, John Knox, leader of the Scottish Reformation, was a preacher here. In 1911, the neo-Gothic Thistle Chapel, seat of the Knights of the Order of the Thistle, was added. The interior of the chapel is adorned with intricately carved stalls with coats of arms of the knights and a vault with figures of angels playing bagpipes. The church tower is crowned with a stone lantern crown.
