Gardjola Gardens
Valletta, Malta

A historic garden viewpoint located on top of St. Michael's Bastion on the promontory of the city of Senglea. The place is famous for its original stone watchtower called Il-Gardjola, erected by the Knights Hospitaller in 1551. On the walls of the tower, symbols of a human eye and ear are carved, reminding the guards to be vigilant against enemy ships. From the garden benches, there is a direct view of the capital Valletta, Fort Saint Elmo, and the waters of Grand Harbour shipyard.
