St. Mark's Clocktower
Venice, Italy

This Renaissance clock tower, built in 1499, closes the northern side of St. Mark's Square, above the archway leading to the Mercerie. Its astronomical clock, with an enameled dial, shows the time, moon phases, and zodiac signs, and two statues of Moors strike the bell.
