The White Hart Inn
Edinburgh, United Kingdom
The tavern on Grassmarket square has been welcoming guests since 1516, making it one of the oldest establishments in the city center. In November 1791, the national poet Robert Burns stayed here during his last journey to the Scottish capital. The poet William Wordsworth also stayed at the inn in 1803. Low ceilings are adorned with oak beams with carved fragments of old poems, and barrels of local ale beers mature in the cellars. The kitchen prepares traditional Scottish dishes from regional ingredients.
